Superclass, a modern history book

We should learn from our past. To not pay attention to this advice is like doing again and again the same mistake. It happens to me from time to time therefore I have a pretty good idea how it is.

There are two types of past:

  1. The historic past that refers to events that did not influenced us directly and happened a long time ago. It is what the historians name history.
  2. The recent past includes even things that happened yesterday.

From the recent past we should take our learning. Nowadays an event happens fast and is not limited by a country border. Something happens in UK in the morning and you will feel the effect before leaving your workplace in the afternoon.

The recent past is difficult to assimilate. His complexity from an historical perspective surpasses our capacity to accumulate information.

This is the reason why some books should be read and appreciated. That is the case with Superclass – David Rothkopf. I considered it a book to read in vacation. After the first pages, I discovered a real history book.

Superclass is a book about the people that made the history in the last 20 years, about the new form of social organization, multinationals and private equity companies, and about the new rulers of this planet. It is an objective analysis of the roots of power in politics, economy or military.

Give this book the necessary time to read it. It is worth it.
